Cooking Workshop with Vegan Xicana
Hi Friends! Last week I had the privilege of facilitating a workshop with Native youth in San Diego. We had a small conversation about food and the cultural significance it has to us. I kept the conversation and lecture part short as everyone was eager to cook. The kids were excited to share what they knew, they asked lots of question, and were happy to learn new things. It was such a great group and had lots of fun cooking. This pushed me to create a cute little handout with recipes. I'll share it at a later day.
(Above you can see snapshots for the food we cooked. Everyone took a task to either prep, cook, season, or taste-test the food. )
Recipes we cooked together were:
calabacitas cashew queso (the kids called our quesadillas, 'cashewdillas'.
salsas: roasted molcajete salsa guacamole
drink: agua de jamaica dessert: lavender chocolate chip cookies & coconut whipped cream with fresas
Saludos,
Maribel
